Down To Two

The NCAA Basketball tournament is now down to two teams. Louisville will have to play a better game than they did last night to gain the crown and I think they will. It has been a fun and interesting basketball post season.

Incidentally, Louisville has the most successful sports program around of late. The "major" sporting teams are quality programs. The men will play for all the marbles, the women are in the final four, and who can forget the beat down that the Cardinals put on the Gators in the Sugar Bowl.
I predicted the outcome of that one. After watching Florida numerous times during the season I came to the conclusion early on that it was them and not the Cardinals who did not belong in the Sugar.

Two games that were "Wow, it doesn't get any better than this."

Michigan tried to give the game away at the end, Jayhawk style, but held on and won despite themselvfes. The Syracuse zone defense is overrated. Michigan had them beaten with McCagy at the free throw line and then quit using it in the second half, and they controlled their offensive galss, as tems will tend to do against the zone. Without their mental slump at the end, the game would not have been close.

Louisville likes to be underestimated, never shows any more than it needs to, and it has more than one game plan. I don't think Manday night will be quite as close as either of yesterday's games were.

You called it.

Hell of a game. I can tell you from experience then when you have a team down by that kind of margin and they come back on you and take the lead, it rattles you. You do not look at them the same way for the rest of the game. You are never again sure that you can beat them.

From a confidence standpoint, it is better by never to have had that big lead in the first place.

I will go out on a limb and say that they are one of the best college basketball teams in recent memory.
