Either Way Texans Will Be Sending More Trash to the District

Ted Cruz and David Dewhurst are squaring off in the Republican race to "represent" Texans in the Senate. A Democratic challenger? Doesn't matter. Either Cruz or Dewhurst will be hanging out in environs of the Beltway directly.

Which is the better candidate? Hard to say. Each has accused the other of high scumbaggery and I  rather imagine they are both correct. Dewhurst seems to have the support of the "establishment" while Cruz is the darling of the Tea Party "Patriots." Why just this week a host of Tea Party types (including the loon Palin) made an appearance just north of Houston and brayed their support.

I probably will vote for Cruz in the runoff (if I bother at all) simply because he is somewhat of an outsider. I don't trust him, (I believe him just more garbage), but he might just reek a little less than his opponent. I know that one is rotten.

Ted Cruz for Senate! Yea!

And Now Sasquatch "Weighs" In. Heavily

This chicken thing has gotten out of control. The whole thing is becoming hilarious. Nothing wrong with a little humor to brighten up the week though. There are all kinds of important things going on in the nation and the world and folk are all upset because a chicken chain has stupidly decided to come out of the closet with their stance on gay marriage? As I have said before though they are not likely to hurt for business. I myself will be in position to "dine" at a location early next week.

Now Roseanne Barr has "tweeted" that anyone eating this particular brand of fast food deserves cancer. Typical. It has been known for some time that Sasquatch is real and unfortunately has the gift of speech.

Rahm (Da Bomb) Emanuel Enters The Chicken Wars

I have said before and I will say again that I couldn't give a daisy chain whether or not gays can legally get married in this country. Does not matter to me a bit. I have also said recently that the corporate big wheels over at the "evangelical" chicken chain made a exceptionally stupid business decision to broadcast "corporate policy" in regard to gay marriage.

With that being said, if the chicken folk feel the need to let everyone know the corporate line on the issue, well, that is fine. I certainly understand if some gay folk wish to avoid spending their hard earned money there. That too is fine. What I fail to understand is how some whore politicians such as this (proven pond scum) Emanuel feel they have the authority to block the opening of more chicken places in Chicago . Emanuel apparently supports one J. Moreno, Chicago Alderman and strong arm punk, in his quest to keep the offending restaurant out of Chicago (or at least his fiefdom).  I am rather certain a whorehouse would have an easier time opening. I doubt that the chicken giant will pay off the Chicago political class like whorehouse management would.  If they did so it would be likely that all politician braying would cease. Forthwith.

Perhaps the chicken giant should open outlets just out of reach of the Chicago mob. Surround the city as it were. Those that wished to boycott are more than welcome to do so, but let us be honest.......There will be a lot of chicken sold and money made.

Soviets in Strength in the Med?

The Maritime Sentry: RIA Novosti: Russian Warships Will Not Enter Syria Port – Navy Chief

I hope the INCSEA manuals are up to date.

It is interesting that the Russians downplay their naval facility at Tartus as nothing more than a "refueling stop." In reality this is meant to be a good warm water port which the Russians are always seeking. This alone explains Russian support of the Assad regime in Syria.

The Brush Is Wide but There May Be Some Truth Here

I saw this a bit ago and thought it interesting.

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his Enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and then sues.
If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".

More Skirmishing in the Chicken War

I have work to do. Painting, yard work, laundry, general cleaning, etc. I am doing none of these today however. Off work today and happy not to be babysitting criminals. So instead of working at the job or taking care of the more important around the house, I am wasting time on Al Gore's time wasting invention. Thanks Al.

Today I learn from William Jacobson over at legalinsurrection.com (he used to be a Blogspot guy but finally wised up), that some (likely corrupt) Chicago alderman also wants to keep the evil evangelical chicken empire out of town.

Whether the folks over at the chicken place made a wise decision by coming out (so to speak) on the issue of gay marriage is open to debate. Well, not really. It was a stupid business move. It may slightly affect the bottom line before all is said and done. Or not.

The issue of gay marriage is a something I care little about. If it was "legal" here that would be fine. If not; just as good. I would not however broadcast my personal thoughts on the matter in a business setting.

All money is green. Doesn't matter who it comes from.

On Chicken and Fruit

There are all kinds of important things going on now and we all know what the top story is. I will steer clear of it today other than to offer thoughts and prayers.......

For some reason or other the management team at Chick-Fil-A has decided to come out with their thoughts on gay marriage. Was there really any reason for it? Business is in the business of conducting business and anything controversial (including coming out with ill thought out, untimely corporate "policy" on social issues), is usually seen as counter productive. In reality though it is doubtful that the chicken giant will feel too much pain. It matters little whether the mayor of Boston makes good on his threats to make it difficult to get business permits or whether the enlightened at Northeastern U. decided to keep them off campus. All the chicken folk need to do is open up shop right outside the city limits of Boston or right off the campus of NEU (do they have a football team?).  Business will come in droves.

Homosexuality, for better or worse, will just not gain the acceptance of the majority of people in this country. Tolerated sure, but truly accepted ....? Sorry. Won't happen. The louder the "Gay Lobby" gets, the less acceptance there will be most likely.

Chick-Fil-A may lose a little business in the short term but that is about it.

I Almost Always Disagree With This Guy. Not Today

jobsanger: 3 States To Vote On Marijuana Legalization

I almost always disagree with Ted McLaughlin. He is an ultra leftist and imho mistakenly believes one party (Democrats) are far and beyond better than the Repubs. I think that he fails to realize that they both have led and are currently leading this country to ruin.

Yes, I almost always disagree with this guy. Just not today.

Ah Summer In Tel Aviv. There Are Such Sights To Behold

Summer in Tel Aviv? They have such sights to show you.

h/t Findilis findalismonkeyinthemiddle.blogspot.com

Tuesday in July and Possibly A Tart or Two

I have been sick the last couple of days with some type of funk or other. Actually had to call out from work. I don't particularly like the new job (to say the least) but I don't like to miss either.  I suppose I will take some time to make a few inane comments and observations on what passes as "late breaking news."

It is being reported that the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhoods' threats to the Pyramids are a hoax and just never happened. Perhaps so. It is easy to see how people would fall for it though (if it is indeed only a hoax). It seems that Islamists do tend to be jealous of anything that is not of the Prophet and certainly have a very recent (and ongoing) history of destruction. I would not be surprised to find that on any given day, the Pyramids, Sphinx, etc. being nothing more than a pile of rubble. Would you?

I guess they are going to be ashootin Great Whites down Australia way. A few surfers have been attacked of late and the latest was bitten in half. I have an idea. A real solution to the problem would be to just keep your Aussie ass out of the water or at least recognize that there is a slight risk of losing a body part in some sort of shark attack. People in the Galveston area wade fish, "surf" and swim in the ocean all the time and any type of shark attack is extremely rare. It can happen though. Recognize and deal with it.

One H. Clinton's motorcade was pelted with shoes, fruits and vegetables accompanied by shouts of "Monica" from the street urchins of Cairo (Alexandria? whatever). This probably would not have happened without at least tacit approval from what amounts to the Egyptian govt. It is going to be very interesting to see just where this new "change in direction" in the Arab world will lead.

The presidential campaign is getting into full swing. So much for any attempt at civility. We have supposedly learned that Romney is a tax evader, outsourcer, occultist, sorcerer, and pimp. Some dummy by the name of Stephanie Cutter said that Romney may be a felon. I don't know about all that but I do now that this Cutter ain't a bad looking old broad. She could have a niche career in Chatsworth if things bomb for her in the political arena. Oh. Have I gone too far here.......

As far as the charge of outsourcing goes, I would have no doubt that Romney may have indirectly been involved in American firms outsourcing jobs overseas. It is funny to see his political opponents tear into him on the issue though. Outsourcing has been a problem for decades and is destroying the nation. Both political parties along with short sighted corporate policies are to blame.

The Syrian govt may be on its last legs. There are reports that there is now fighting in the streets of Damascus. Hard to say if this is accurate or not. It might not be long before Assad and CO. are seen hanging from lampposts. Shoes will be thrown. Or maybe if he is lucky he will be able to leave the country and spend his days in Tehran lounging by the pool, chillin with his peeps (as they say). There is probably not much good that will come out of the whole mess except perhaps (just perhaps) an Islamist (or secular) govt will not see fit to allow Russia to have naval access. That may be the only bright spot. Whoever gets control of the Syrian reigns of power will not likely be inclined to feel to kindly to the Russians after their rather adamant support of the Assad regime. Still in the long run, it would likely be better for Assad or perhaps some military junta to hold the keys of power in this sad land. Assad, and the military, know damn good and well that unleashing war on their next door neighbor is a losing proposition. An Islamist styled regime might think otherwise.

For an in depth assessment of the Syrian problem from someone who really has an idea what he is talking about I suggest taking a look at Barry Rubin's place rubinreports.blogspot.com

In an earlier post today I delved into the unfortunate incident of a U.S. Naval vessel firing on a boat that got too close. The course of action, while tragic in this particular case, was necessary for the safety of our vessel and crew. No apologies required.

About enough I guess. How about some surfers? I don't know about a Great White but I would bet there are some land sharks willing to take a bite.

Better Safe Than Sorry

It was inevitable. A naval vessel (USNS Rappahannock) fired upon a small boat that came too close in the dangerous waters of the Persian Gulf. While this particular incident appears to be a tragedy resulting from perhaps a misunderstanding, it is not something to condemn. There is no need to apologize, "review" policy or "place a moratorium" on the use of deadly force. Any change in direction would eventually lead to the damage or destruction of our naval equipment and loss of life of our sailors. Lack of vigilance ensured the success of the attack on the USS Cole a few years back. All steps should continue to be taken that will lessen the chances of a similar successful attack in the future.

The action of the military security force on board the United States Naval Ship was timely,  and considering the dangerous waters in which the ship sailed, the correct and proper response. There was and is no other option.

To think otherwise would be foolish.

Coming To America? Probably Not.

I have said before that (imho) the best in Rock music comes out of central and northern Europe. I am a huge fan of Rammstein and was fortunate enough to see them a while back when they made an appearance in Houston. I would like to see this band also but unfortunately it does not seem like they will making a new world tour any time soon. Shame.

Please enjoy Die Apokalyptischen Reiter live. This group reminds me a bit of the Finnish band Children of Bodom crossed with the Swiss group Eluveitie with maybe (well probably not) a small amount of the American Bozo Porno Circus mixed in.

Mohammedans Threaten the Pyramids?

I have learned from Fousesquawk garyfouse.blogspot.com that the Aryan err the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood has made threats to demolish the Pyramids. I would have to assume the Sphinx is in danger also. Why? Well because they predate Islam (what doesn't?). One has to wonder how much of this is rhetoric and how much  can be taken seriously. These ancient structures belong not only to the people of Egypt but to mankind in general. It would be a travesty if any damage occurred. Does NATO need to send a force to guard against their destruction? At some point there will need to be a military buffer force along the Suez to guard against Islamist tampering with world trade. I suppose a division could be spared for the Pyramids also. I jest of course. I think.

The problem as I see it is, by and large. Mohammedans are like juvenile delinquents that need to be sanctioned. They are destructive, primitive, and just generally an all around pain in the ass to the rest of the world. Nothing more. The gift of democracy is likely wasted on them and, when it comes down to it,  this same highly touted Muslim democracy probably will morph into a destructive force that will need to be slapped down vigorously at some point.

I have said before that some sort of autocracy or military junta is the only way that most Mohammedan countries can be governed. Muslim "democracy" puts us all in at least some danger. I wonder why our recent presidents' and their Ivy League advisers don't recognize this. Western liberal democracy is not the necessarily the "fix" to all the evils in the world. When Muslim nations fall into the trap of the Islamists, it matters little whether these forces were elected or gained power the old fashioned way. The end result may well be the same. Remember, one A. Hitler was legally elected.

How did that work out?

NAACP Convention In Houston

The NAACP is holding their little get together in Houston this week. Yesterday the honorable Eric Holder blasted the Texas voter ID law. Apparently it is racist (or something) to ask anyone who votes to have some sort of identification.  Today Mitt Romney is appearing and Lord knows what nonsense he will tell (or has told) that crowd.  . No word on whether Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee has made an appearance. I can't imagine that she would not. Especially if there are TV cameras present.  Uncle Joe Biden will be putting in his two cents worth tomorrow. Allah willing.  For whaterver reason the current POTUS will be a no show.

It is easy to see why a candidate for president would feel the need to acknowledge the NAACP by honoring them with their presence. I guess. Frankly the NAACP has gone from a necessary organization to really, let us be honest; little more than a racist group with a rather narrow and outdated agenda. Not as odious as the Klan to be sure (quite yet), but every bit as racist ( and infininately more powerful) as LA RAZA.

While a presidential candidate can be sort of excused for making an appearance for political reasons: why would a sitting AG be involved with a crowd such as this? Holder making an appearance with the NAACP is like Ashcroft speaking at, well you get the drift.. It has already been seen though that this Holder will put his particular brand of personal political beliefs ahead of his job as the chief law enforcement officer in the land. It is alleged that  Eric Holder is actually a criminal himself. I won't comment on that one but I will say that it would not surprise me. He does seem to think himself a special personality who considers himself just a cut above the rest of us.

With the NAACP rally (whatever) in town, I now understand why there was a Quanell X sighting yesterday. I am sure he was in attendance. Bet my last dollar on it. Anyway, he was seen heading south to the ghettos of suburbia in his Porsche. Funny thing. What does Obama, Quanell 10, and Horst Wessel have in common? All were/are community organizers. How are/were they different (other than the obvious skin tone, nationality, and party affiliation)?

Horst Wessel lived among the lower classes that he was trying to "help."  I don't feel the need to elaborate further (or apologize) for stating the obvious. Illuminating historical fact as it were.

On a related unrelated note; I will be rather certain that people in the service industry (whatever their race, creed, national origin, etc.) will be glad when this clown circus  finally blows town. The tips will be a tad on the low side. I garauntee that. Oh, have I gone too far there?

A Quanell X Sighting and some Cheerleaders

Today my better half saw Quanell X out and about in his high dollar Porsche (which of course was sporting vanity plates). Frankly I was not aware that ole Quanell actually had gainful employment. He must have in order to afford such a fancy ride. Don't you think? Perhaps (as is alleged) he gets paid by strong arming companies that are unfortunate enough to get in his sights. Good job if you can get it.  Maybe those are just allegations. At any rate, the last thing any organization needs is Quanell 10 showing up on the front steps alleging that there are racists in the mist err midst.

For some reason a leftist website (leftblogistan) has me included on the list of lefty type blogs. I doth protest. Some of my acquaintances believe me to be a bit to the left but then again anything that is not slightly to the right of the John Birch Society is considered "liberal" by those folk. Traffic is traffic but I just don't want the multitude that come here for my particular brand of wisdom to feel cheated. A leftist I am not.

College football season fast approaches. How about some college cheerleading types to get you pumped.

This is the  type Porsche that Quanell 10 likes to drive. Makes one wonder how a "community activist" affords such equipment. I want a job like that.Don't you?

Independence Day 2012

It is customary in this country to wish my fellow citizens a happy and safe July 4. I do so now. I wonder what the founding fathers, excuse me, "founders" would think of what we have become and where we are headed.

Don't you?

Whining in July

My regular schedule has me off the next couple of days. Sort of the luck of the draw as I could have been working. The new job is not for me to be sure and I don't know why I thought that working in a prison setting would be a good idea. I feel like I am the one under sanction.  Oh well, never take a job that is continually advertised as available. There is a reason for it. I knew this but violated my own policy.

Be that as it may, it looks like there will be something in the public school system (I know) on the horizon very shortly and I am sort of counting on it. If it doesn't pan out, well, back to bartending I go for a bit. Perhaps combine it with some pizza delivery or some such. I shit you not. I would come out ahead in the income dept to be sure.........Come to think of it, perhaps (like many a leftist blogger) I could write some blog posts and "bleg" for "donations." Nah......

There have been a good many things of importance (and some unimportant) the last week or so and I don't know how anyone could get by without my take on a few issues. Here goes........

It seems that Anderson Cooper of CNN has, as they say, come out of the closet. Really Anderson? You could have just stayed inside. It is not like your tastes were not pretty obvious. I suppose Anderson should get a medal for such "courage." (This would fall into the unimportant news category).

The Iranian Parliament, which reportedly holds little power, has drafted legislation that calls for Iran to block crude oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz that are destined to any power that supports sanctions against the Islamist state. Good thing for the Iranian people that this legislative body has no teeth. Iran is already suicidal enough........

Assad apparently has said he regrets his forces shooting down a Turkish warplane the other day. I bet he does. He mentioned that the Turkish equipment was flying in the same area that Israeli warplanes regularly fly. Perhaps it was a case of mistaken identity Mr. Assad? Turkey, as one of the few real militarily competent Muslim forces, would make short work of the Syrian armed forces. A comparison of their naval capabilities alone is enough to draw that conclusion. What is somewhat disturbing however is that we don't know just where Turkey intends to go. Is she interested in becoming a dominant power in the region and perhaps becoming an Islamist state herself (and therefore a problem for the West)? Hard to say at this point. One must remember that Asian Turkey is not European (NATO membership notwithstanding). A resurgent and aggressive Turkish nation could make things very interesting with the balance of power in the region. Arabs have little use for Turks and would not likely sit still for long under a Turkish yoke. Turkey does have a long history of domination in the region. Not recently to be sure but........

The whole problem becomes more interesting by the day. Iran (did I mention they are suicidal)has said they will not stand idly by if the Turks attack Syria. Hizbollah says they will join the fray in support of their Syrian brethren. Israel would do well to keep her forces on high alert as whatever may (or may not happen) will affect them. I recently heard a television preacher talk of Armageddon. Maybe those silly folk who beg for money while sporting their "kiss me quick" haircuts and pinky rings know what they are talking about after all. Now that is a scary thought.

The SCOTUS has upheld "Obamacare." It seems that the administration bristles at any part of it being considered a "tax" though. Let us be honest. Anytime government takes money from the citizenry, for any reason what so ever, it is a tax. If I have to pay a small fee to get a license to bartend in the Republic, well then, this is a tax. A voluntary tax to be sure, but a tax none the less. Same with a traffic ticket or overdue library book fine. Money goes to govt coffers and therefore it is a tax. A tax is a tax is a tax. Whether some of the money is voluntary (for services rendered), or involuntary (income taxes), it is still taxation.
Is this "Obamacare" good or bad? There is no doubt that there are many who are left out of the loop when it comes to quality health care. Anyone, regardless of income or their insurance situation, will be treated though. If you have a heart attack, are indigent and without insurance, and it is found that triple bypass surgery is immediately necessary, you will get that surgery. What people don't get without a decent health plan is preventative care. Will this "Obamacare" actually fix that problem? Does it really prevent "job lock?" Will it cost me and mine any more money than we actually pay now? I have not studied this enough to have a relevant answer but I can assure you that if this is something that the federal govt has a hand in then there is a strong possibility that it will be a boondoggle.

The SCOTUS has also struck down parts of the Arizona Immigration law(s). This, coming out of the great state of Arizona, was something born of desperation. Our states along the southern border are on the front lines (so to speak). If the federal government does not seriously do much to combat the problem of hordes of illegal aliens coming from the south then the states are compelled to act. A president (any president) takes an oath to defend the nation. Border defense is (or should be) a priority of any nation state. Does a president violate his sacred oath by not mandating a real border defense? The Border Patrol and affiliated agencies (God Bless them) no longer have the manpower or the teeth to handle this problem alone. There is only one solution but cowardice and (frankly) treason out of DC prevent the rather easily solved problem to be taken care of.  After all, it is not like there is not a war (insurgency) raging just to the south (and perhaps even spilling over into our southern counties).

Saints coach Sean Payton sure is having a tough year. First a (non paid) suspension from the NFL and now this? He and his wife are reportedly getting divorced. When it rains it pours and Sean is getting drenched.

Andy Griffith has passed on. May he rest in peace. Some of us still watch and enjoy his work.

Questions On the First Sabbath in July with a Pit Tootsie Bonus

There has been a whole lot going on the last week or so in this country and around the world. Some things may well be the change that the fruitloop left has been braying about for quite some time. I may or may not write down a few thoughts later in the week on various subjects.

A few questions.....

1. Will this country be recognizable after South Side Slim serves his second term?

2. Will this Obamacare actually cost me more money and/or diminish the quality of medical care I recieve.?

3. Why did the SCOTUS strike down parts of the Arizona anti immigration law? Doesn't it essentially mirror federal law?

4. Is this Holder really a criminal or is he just a victim of politics as usual?

5. Isn't ironic that the ATF (again) is implicated in incompetence?

6. The "hope and change" that is the "Arab Spring" will at some point lead this country into a bloody conflict. How can the fruitloops among us not see that Muslim "democracy" can be a danger to the Western way?

7. Will the Republicans ever nominate a person of substance as their presidential candidate?

8. Will the five dollar "surcharge" that city govt of Houston is to charge titty bars really going to help fund "rape kits," or will it just be another way to steal money and waste it?

9. How much will the IRS need to expand to enforce the "tax" that is associated with Obamacare?

10. When will we be taxed for the mileage we drive?

11. Will our Southern border ever be secured (ie fenced and guarded)?

12. Isn't it time we just finally repeal laws concerining the use of marijuana? Should we let those currently in jail/prison for mere possession of same back in society? Should their "criminal" records be wiped clean?

13. Is American "Imperialism" actually, in some cases, a good thing?

14. Is criminality "learned" behavior or do many people just come out of the box (so to speak) with criminal traits? Is wasting money on "reforming" those of criminal bent a foolish waste of taxpayer resources.

15. Is it racist to point out that areas with a high black population have a high violent crime rate?

16. Is Sheila Jackson Lee any more stupid and ridiculous than Frederica Wilson?

17. Is Sandra Fluke actually and indeed a slut? Is it out of bounds to ask this question?

18. Have you ever noticed that some ultra left bloggers are unemployed and this appears to be a choice (almost a badge of honor)? Do you think they are for the most part whiners and weenies? (See D r i f t g l a s s driftglass.blogspot.com )?

19. Is Turkey a friend or foe?

20. Is it non PC to call Istanbul by its' proper name?

21. Why is my Blogger spell check thingy not working? How bad will this fuck me up? Is it something to care about?

22. How about about some nameless tarts? Pit tootsies perhaps?
