The Purple Shirts Declare Victory in Houston

A few days back the Service Employees International Union declared victory in the Houston area janitor strike. Those folks are braying a bit much about a whole lot of nothing.....

Under the new contract the janitors got a raise of 12 percent spread over 4 years. Sounds pretty good. Right? Personally I don't think it amounts to diddly squat. Union janitors now make a whopping 8.35 an hour and in four years they will be looking at 9.35 for an hourly rate.

I am not a proponent of this "living wage" that the leftists always are honking about, but custodial engineering is hard work and is certainly worth a great deal more than 9.35 an hour. If I were a dues paying member of this SEIU I would feel cheated.

It seems that Houston area janitors are being scammed by both their employers and the purple shirts over at the SEIU.

Maybe these janitors are the "vunables" that Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee is always braying about.

As put upon and downtrodden as those in the cleaning industry are I am betting that not all custodial engineers are living at the poverty level. Just a guess.

Questions On the First Sabbath in July with a Pit Tootsie Bonus

There has been a whole lot going on the last week or so in this country and around the world. Some things may well be the change that the fruitloop left has been braying about for quite some time. I may or may not write down a few thoughts later in the week on various subjects.

A few questions.....

1. Will this country be recognizable after South Side Slim serves his second term?

2. Will this Obamacare actually cost me more money and/or diminish the quality of medical care I receive.?

3. Why did the SCOTUS strike down parts of the Arizona anti immigration law? Doesn't it essentially mirror federal law?

4. Is this Holder really a criminal or is he just a victim of politics as usual?

5. Isn't ironic that the ATF (again) is implicated in incompetence?

6. The "hope and change" that is the "Arab Spring" will at some point lead this country into a bloody conflict. How can the fruitloops among us not see that Muslim "democracy" can be a danger to the Western way?

7. Will the Republicans ever nominate a person of substance as their presidential candidate?

8. Will the five dollar "surcharge" that city govt of Houston is to charge titty bars really going to help fund "rape kits," or will it just be another way to steal money and waste it?

9. How much will the IRS need to expand to enforce the "tax" that is associated with Obamacare?

10. When will we be taxed for the mileage we drive?

11. Will our Southern border ever be secured (ie fenced and guarded)?

12. Isn't it time we just finally repeal laws concerining the use of marijuana? Should we let those currently in jail/prison for mere possession of same back in society? Should their "criminal" records be wiped clean?

13. Is American "Imperialism" actually, in some cases, a good thing?

14. Is criminality "learned" behavior or do many people just come out of the box (so to speak) with criminal traits? Is wasting money on "reforming" those of criminal bent a foolish waste of taxpayer resources.

15. Is it racist to point out that areas with a high black population have a high violent crime rate?

16. Is Sheila Jackson Lee any more stupid and ridiculous than Frederica Wilson?

17. Is Sandra Fluke actually and indeed a slut? Is it out of bounds to ask this question?

18. Have you ever noticed that some ultra left bloggers are unemployed and this appears to be a choice (almost a badge of honor)? Do you think they are for the most part whiners and weenies? (See D r i f t g l a s s driftglass.blogspot.com )?

19. Is Turkey a friend or foe?

20. Is it non PC to call Istanbul by its' proper name?

Trash Talking On a Thursday

If I was a betting man, and only if, I would wager that this Joshua Ledet will take the title as this year's American Idol. I don't watch a whole lot of these variety shows, they tend to irritate me at times, but this guy can sing like very few I have ever seen. If you saw him belt out It's A Man's World last night you know what I mean.
Interestingly enough he hails from Westlake, La. Westlake is a community of chemical plants and casinos just across the river from Lake Charles. A lot of poverty there. Like most chemical towns, the unbelievable weath associated with the manufacture just does not seem to "trickle down" (as they say) to the local community. If you have ever been to Freeport, or Galena Park, Tx, or Westlake, La. you will know what I am talking about.  Be that as it may, I don't think that Ledet has so much to worry about as far as poverty is concerned. Win or lose, he will be able to make his way (and then some) in the music business. Good for him!
 I wish this Louisianan all the luck in the world. I am, after all, a Southeastern Conference man.

I suppose that Obama has come out now in favor of "gay marriage." OK. I have heard it called in the media as "gay for pay." or some such. Apparently some gay advocate groups have threatened withholding funds from his campaign if he doesn't play ball. So I hear anyway. He is foolish, in my humble opinion, for caving on this issue. Of course there is a fundraiser of some sort going on tonight at Clooney's humble abode. I hear the cost to hang with the POTUS is something like 40,000 a plate. That is nuts. I wouldn't pay 40,000 to dine with Ron Jeremy.
 Like I said in a recent post, the majority of America has little sympathy for the "gay agenda" and Obama catering to what is considered the extreme left "base" will likely hurt him come November.

Romney is being trashed for supposedly taking part in a cruel prank when he was in high school. So? Kids do stupid shit. All the time.  At least we have not heard about him palling around with known terrorists such as Ayers. That man (Ayers) should be in federal prison to this day. The only difference between an Ayers and a McVeigh was that McVeigh was a successful terrorist and Ayers' little group was thankfully a bunch of fuck ups. Still people did lose their lives due to the action of the Weather Underground. Ayers should have been imprisoned for the remainder of his life. Any candidate for office should know better than to have any association with such trash unless it was as a member of the prosecution team.

Joe Arpaio is under fire from the federal government. He has thumbed his nose at the DC crowd it seems. Just watch though. They will find a way to get to him.  How on earth could a Justice Dept headed by this Holder attack an American lawman for nothing more than doing the job he was hired (elected) to do? A bit of politically motivated selective "enforcement" on the part of the fedgov it seems to me.

My friend has trouble at airports. It is kind of funny really. I have a feeling that the reason he gets bothered by these TSU "agents" is that he does not have the ability that most of us have to hide his contempt. Putting on the mask of neutrality is beyond his capability. I would imagine that is why he has problem with these folk.
Years ago he and I had a discussion about this TSA program. I was of the opinion that airport security would be handled by a professional force and that force should be a federal agency. Was I wrong? I don't think I was. I still believe so, but what I did not count on was that the same minimum wage types would be manning the posts. I figured they would be weeded out in favor of those, shall we say, a bit more professional. Apparently not. Now we see the spectre of the TSA getting out of control. Just recently Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee touted a pilot program in Houston where TSA agents would be placed on city buses. We all know that crime can a problem on public transportation sure, but placing undercover cops on duty on the various modes of conveyance is a local affair.

That is about enough.

Sheila Jackson Lee Strikes Again (and again)

I finally got around to watching the already "old news" of the Martin Bashir (MSNBC)/Sheila Jackson Lee interview. It is causing some stir around the Houston area, which is frankly hard to understand.Sheila always jumps to conclusions, says ridiculous things, provides high comedy, etc. etc. It is customary in these parts to call Sheila, "Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee." It is well deserved. Frankly though in the interview this Bashir fruitloop was more inflammatory than Lee. I suppose that is nothing surprising. I have heard reports though that Sheila is insinuating that Zimmerman's broke his own nose. If she said this it would be rather typical of her.  She rarely disappoints.

I did agree that some of the "character assassinations" that some are leveling on this deceased young man (Martin) are unbecoming and rather odd. It is being reported that he may have been caught with suspicious (burglary?) tools at one time. It is also noted that he may have had some other items in his possession (in the past) that seemed, shall we say, out of place. It is further noted that he may have enjoyed a little herb now and then.(I would say "who doesn't" but I haven't partaken in years)  None of these things matter however. The only thing that matters is that the authorities get to the bottom of the whole episode (If they have not already). It may be hard for these same authorities to remain impartial now that what passes for the media is calling for Zimmerman's arrest though. The police have not made this arrest however, and that could lead one to believe that perhaps no crime was committed under the laws of the state of Florida. Matters not really whether the law is a "good one" or that some people find it odious. This should not play into the conversation.

It seems that the facts have been distorted and all sorts of folk have an axe to grind here. No one really knows for sure what happened. Perhaps there was (and is) no justification for arrest. Perhaps there is. I don't know and neither does the New Black Panther Party.

In other related news - did I read that Rosanne Barr has been going around "tweeting" Zimmerman's address? Apparently she "tweeted and deleted" as they say. What is wrong with this woman? I guess that is a stupid question.

Spike Lee (who?) apparently is remorseful for "tweeting" (that sounds so silly) the wrong address. Instead of Zimmerman's address he broadcast the home address of some folk by the name of McClain. Thank goodness there was not a violent episode. As it is this Lee needs to pony up some bucks for this serious error in judgement. A couple million might do for starters. Spike Lee is a forgettable fool. Nothing more.

This thing has died down somewhat (at this time) on the "news" channels. It could be that they have figured that this wasn't the case that would further inflame the populace (and jack up their ratings) after all. They shouldn't worry though. Something else will be right around the corner.

South SIde Slim, River Oaks Inbreeding, School Lunches, and Vintage Rule 5

South Side Slim made an appearance in Houston evening last for some sort of fundraiser or something. Of course he flew in right at rush hour and the traffic disaster that ensued took a full three hours to clean up.  Ridiculous! Of course after the main event there was to be a private gathering at a "River Oaks home."  Ever been to the River Oaks section of Houston? Beverly Hills has nothing on these folk. Funny thing; these River Oaks types are the very same folk that Obama and Co. want to  pay even more in taxes.  As far as I know, he never ventured over into Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee's district where he might actually be welcome. No money there I guess.  I know he did not head just south into Ron Paul country. There is some money in that neck of the woods  but most of it is tied up in big diesel pick up trucks (whether needed or not).

I have had some glimpses into the "River Oaks lifestyle" a few times in my varied career as a barman and cab driver. I have met some nice down to earth folk but I have met quite a number who are just a bit hard to deal with. Often the younger folk I have run across have an arrogant, entitled, attitude when dealing with the unwashed. The older ones keep that in check; at least outwardly.  What some of them think is classy is a bit odd also.  Now I am no interior dickorator but I do know tacky decor when I see it. Just because someone is very wealthy does not always seem to translate into a refinement in taste. Some of the homes I worked in as a barman were tacky to the extreme. When one has a full sized stuffed lion in the living room surrounded by African tribal masks, well, that is just trashy. I don't care what it costs.

One thing a lot of these River Oaks folk like to do is "fund raise" with a whole lot of heavy drinking in the process. A lot of them do not have the sense to not drink and drive but I have carted a few around who have a DWI or two under their belt.  Even they aren't that dumb to continue to drive around hammered after that legal nightmare.

I vividly recall one fine evening picking up a couple of these pampered young River Oaks fellows who, after a night of heavy drinking, were interested in interesting things. They asked me for my advice on the matter and as a man who is customer service oriented, I recommended a couple spots for them. After some discussion, they decided on what would be of interest to them and away we went. They asked me to "leave the meter running" and wait a bit until they return. It is usually a professional error in judgement to do so. The reason is simple. After recommending a certain type of "gentlemens' establishment" to customers they are grateful at first. After their affairs are concluded, buyers remorse may set in, as they may be hundreds of dollars lighter in the wallet. They may feel stupid and be looking to blame anyone but themselves. The cabbie who recommended the spot is an easy target. It is best really to just drop a customer, get paid, wait a few minutes and go get your "finders fee" from the fine establishment and then boogie on to the next call. Let the sporting man find another cab to bring him to the hotel or home (or wherever). At any rate on this particular occasion I violated the "rule" and waited on these guys. In no more than ten minutes both came literally running out of the business and begged to get into my locked cab. Behind them was a very large Black man with a 9mm plainly visible  tucked into his pants. What these boys did to rile up the bouncer was beyond me but they were not getting into my cab. Luckily for them the issue was decided after some very harsh words from the bouncer (and another 50 bucks from the bouncer given to yours truly). I let the lads in and took them back home. They were rather subdued and I did not ever find out just what these boys did in the hoorhouse to nearly get shot over. Must have been something really really stupid. The whole episode made me wonder if the rumors of inbreeding among the River Oaks community are true.
This is reminding me of another little episode that was kinda funny, A few years back I mistakenly picked up some crazy old dude at a low rent hotel who wanted to go here and there. For whatever reason I decided to do so. It became apparent pretty soon that he was crazy as hell and had very little money. Apparently he was a direct descendant of gunslinger John Wesley Hardin also. I told him that his cab ride was nearing an end and he needed to get out pdq. He chose a very very fancy and upscale eating establishment that caters to the River Oaks crowd. I dropped him right at the door and was beginning to see the humor in the situation and I found my irritation (at him and myself)  slipping away.  He gave me a dollar and a lighter, and then told me to come back in one hour and he would pay the rest of the fare "in gold." I got out, opened the door for him just like he was a rear admiral or something and thanked him for allowing me to be of service. I was trying to keep a straight face as I could see restaurant staff and customers beginning to gawk. I watched him enter the place and then drove on as our business was concluded. I shortly got a call from the office about dropping this "bum" off at this fancy joint. I explained that this is where he wanted to go and I was just doing my job and offering excellent customer service in the process. No one could argue with me there. If a bum wants to get dropped off at a fancy place or if a Michael Berry wants to be dropped off at a rough trade Gay club; what concern is it of mine? A cabbie's job is to deliver customers to their desired destination is it not? At any rate that whole affair still amuses me a bit and I still have the lighter that the guy gave me. A little memento of the experience........I guess that is about enough talk about these River Oaks pests.

It is being reported now that whole milk is to be taken off the "menu" in public schools. Ever eat the tripe that is being forced on kids? Ammonium hydroxide (pink slime) is still allowable to be added to meat products apparently but whole milk is poison or something? Another example of government interference into even the most mundane facets of our lives. I remember the school lunches at the "reform school" where I (finally) matriculated. Good down home southern cooking which on any given day might include biscuits or rolls from scratch, real fried chicken with mashed taters and gravy and yes even whole milk. Afterwords we could go outside and have a smoke in the "smoking area." They did frown on the use of marijuana though. Best not get caught with that substance  or you were in for a  bad day. A very bad day indeed.

I know a person who has an autoimmune disorder that will likely eventually kill her. More often than not she is in great pain and has to rely on strong prescription painkillers to remain somewhat comfortable. These drugs tend to make her completely stoned. Often to the point of incoherence. I might mention also that these "medications" are prohibitively expensive. Often she goes without because of the cost. I would recommend that she try a little pot frankly. Medicinal MJ is not legal in the Republic but I certainly would not let that stop me. If I or one of my family members was in need then I would "score" it. Hell even that utterly sane and pious Christian man Pat Robertson sees the ridiculousness of the the "war" on Marijuana. Yes, Yes I know that foreign narco terrorists control some of the MJ trade, but that could easily be rectified by some sort of legalization policy. That and some Hellfire missiles fired at Mexican kingpins.

Another Super Bowl in the Books. Nothing For Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee to Become Outraged Over

I watched the Super Bowl last night. It was my duty as a proud American. As a citizen, it is simply a must to at least have the game on the telly. Kind of like catching at least one game of a World Series or rooting for the Americans in the Olympics. Even in the "sport" of  Soccer. Be that as it may, I really did not have much of a dog in the hunt and was only passively pulling for the Giants to win. I kind of like "The Quiet Manning."  The game was quite good and came right down to the wire. The way a Super Bowl should.

I did not notice any advertisements that would outrage Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee. Remember last year? I don't know, perhaps I was missing something but I just don't think there was anything that would offend the Congresswoman from Texas. Time will tell though. She has not been in the spotlight of late and it is past time for her to be outraged and offended about something or other. Perhaps she didn't like the minstrel show that was presented during the (exceptionally long) half.

It is always something.

I heard a good one today. A friend of mine said that at his place of employ a woman was "turned in" to the HR department for a Take This Job and Shove It ringtone. Can you believe that? I am sorta sick of everyone being offended and outraged about something or other.  Aren't you? It is just not as funny as it used to be. Are we all becoming Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee?

Loudmouths Everywhere

There has been a good bit of blather on the "news" networks of late about the cost of the tropical system that blew through the NE over the weekend. There are those who think that the non stop coverage was just a bit over the top. I would have to agree. Part of the problem in this country is media hype. There are numerous competing organizations and they are all in the business of getting the "news" out. In reality they are in the entertainment business. It is not like the old days when there was a nightly news report and the rest of the programming was some true entertainment. Now the "news" is entertainment. It is probably just a bit unhealthy. When screechers like this Nancy Grace can scream on and on and on about the Casey Anthony trial, well, things are going just a bit too far. That particular affair was, at best, a regional news story. Non stop news and commentary by such jerk offs as Olbermann, Hannity, etc. etc. seem to have the effect of polarizing the populace. Don't get me wrong. We need a free press. I just don't think we need weeks of coverage of some guy's cock. It just goes too far at times. A journalists jobs is to inform and investigate. It is not to entertain.

With all that being said, one issue that has come up is about the so called Tea Party. Would these folk accept govt aid if their area was struck by disaster? Would FEMA and the federal fast response agencies' (ie Coast Guard) help be rejected. Probably not. You see what you have in this Tea Party, is for the most part, the loudmouth fringe. Don't get me wrong. I am for a reduction in the size of the FedGov but I understand the need for a government that is not completely hamstrung. It amuses me when these Tea Party folks get on their horse and cry about wanting to totally gut U.S. government. It is hard to take them seriously. They are just another flash in the pan movement that will go the way of the Perot bunch. Hypocrites many of them. This Cantor has just been recently exposed with great fanfare.  Don't worry though, those of the far far left are perhaps even more silly. Most of then really seem to live on some sort of Utopian fantasy island.

It just seems silly that the fringe on either side of the political spectrum seem to get the most play on these various "news" networks. We see the spectre of Maxine Waters braying about this or that and of course Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee being "outraged" about something or other. Then we are forced to see Palin wandering around talking (and looking) like some sort of deranged soccer mom. The media is in love it seems with her "playing hard to get' in the upcoming Republican race. Extremists and fringe loons just seem to get most of the play.

That is a shame.

Ramble? Hell Yes I Will

As usual there are a couple things that just need to be discussed this morning. For the good of the country you understand.


It is apparent that some bar owners in Michigan are banning some lawmakers from their places of business to protest a "smoking ban." Good for them. Everyone knows that smoking is a bad and dangerous habit, but that is the breaks. If a business owner decides to let people smoke in their place of business then so be it. On a sort of related note it seems to me that at least some folk under the age of 21 should be allowed to have a drink in a bar. I am talking about of course those active duty military folk who defend us. After a hard day of shooting at Mohammedans, or in the case of U.S. troops, getting shot at by Mohammedans and then asking permission to shoot back, it seems that having a cold beer is in order. Should be a right. I understand the need to keep drunks off the road of course and I do know that most 18 year olds (and a lot of 40 year olds) can't handle their booze, but for those who serve our nation.....Give me a break. Let them have at least some suds.

Did you know that Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee has a BA from Yale? How is this possible? The poor woman can't speak proper English and has about a sixth grade understanding of geography and history. It must have been an affirmative action type of thing. Oh. Is that going too far? Sorry. Perhaps it is time you be honest with yourself. There is no possible way that this woman is, as they say, "Ivy League material."

You know, on second thought, perhaps Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee is Ivy League material. Have you noticed that those who continue to damage our country often have some link to the Ivy League? A friend of mine reminded me that ex major league catcher Brad Ausmus was a Dartmouth grad. Or was it Cornell? I don't recall.  At any rate, the only thing Brad ever damaged was the collective batting average of the Astros. He could not for the life of him hit the ball. He was a damn good catcher though. One of the best. I recall when he would catch for Billy Wagner. Remember him? The wild closer. I used to think that if Brad weren't playing baseball we might be calling him "Doctor" Ausmus and if Wagner wasn't such a rocket arm we would be telling him to "get in the truck." I wonder what kind of conversations Ausmus and Wagner had on the mound. Pretty sure they did not discuss microbiology. I always liked Ausmus. Perhaps the Ivy League can't be all bad.

Frederica Wilson just might be in the same league as Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee. Not sure yet. I need to do a bit more analysis. I'm thinking she might just run a close second to ole Sheila. One thing I do know - No one can take her very seriously as long as she is running around in those pimp hats. She looks like an aging hooker in that getup she sports.

Maxine Waters? Hell we may as well discuss her. I am not real sure myself, but there are allegations out there that she is a criminal. Is this true? I wouldn't know, but I will say that very often when there is smoke there is fire. I am not sure why there is not some "real" investigation into her alleged wrongdoing(s).

OK now on to Cynthia McKinney. This woman is a traitor. I would think that she needs to be investigated for espionage. Anyone who goes on Iranian (and Libyan) television and bashes her country is possibly giving the enemy sensitive information. Thankfully she is no longer a member of Congress.  She will probably be back though.

McKinney, Wilson, Waters, and Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee? Yes I know how it looks. Some would say, "Cabbie you are a racist and misogynist." Not true (particularly). It is not my fault that the voters in those districts put buffoons in office. It is not my problem that these particular office (and ex office) holders happen to be African American women. I am simply pointing out that they are all guilty, in my opinion, of high buffoonery, and in the special case of McKinney, the possibility that she is an "agent" of at least one enemy nation.

The earthquake to hit the East Coast this week caused a bit of a stir but thankfully very little damage. It is interesting that a quake in Colorado was recorded shortly before. "Unrelated" say the scientists. OK. Case closed. The discussion is over. Right.......Anyway, this particular little shaking of the earth is nothing compared to a hurricane blowing through town. Some of those folk don't know the pain in the ass that is in their immediate future. Perhaps Mayor Bloomberg can ban the hurricane. I am wondering if there will be looting and rampaging in the streets of some of those eastern towns before it is all said and done.  That won't happen here in the Republic of Tejas. Weuns is all armed round here and would be ashootin at looters. That is one reason you don't typically see that type of looting activity in these parts. That and the fact that folk here are just a bit more laid back for the most part. Our women are prettier also. Us Texicans and Southrons in general are just better looking than a lot of folk. Be honest. You know it to be true.

Something You Will Never See

I was having a telephone conversation with my friend a bit ago and had my eye (sort of) on the political nonsense that is being played out for us on the television. Suddenly and out of the blue, Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee was allowed (for some reason) to reach the podium on the House Floor to blather about this or that. What luck! As a man who likes comedy as much as the next guy, I wanted to listen to old Sheila. I did not want to be rude to my friend so I just put the program on "freeze frame." It was a bit interesting and also just a tad disturbing to sit and look at the image of this woman frozen, as it were, on the screen. It was like a very bad portrait. Her best side, as they say, was just not highlighted.

It occurred to me that one thing we will never ever hear about is Larry Flynt offering Lee any cash to get naked.

At least let us hope not.

Quanell Ten Strikes Again

For those of you who don't know who Quanell X is; he is a race baiter and "professional Black" in the Houston area. I at one time thought him a pretty smart guy. Anyone that can make a decent living off the exploitation of racial issues can't be all dumb. I have since revised that assessment and now place him perhaps just a step above Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee in the smarts category.
Mr. X's latest foray into race baiting is seemingly calling for and advocating violence against the Houston Police Dept and I suppose, by extension, local cops in general. This is in response to alleged police brutality targeting the Black community. Now we all know there are rogue cops running about. There are quite a few that should not be allowed out in public much less out and about with firearms. That being said, it is quite foolish and counterproductive for Mr. X to publicly advocate an "eye for an eye."
You know, I would have a lot more respect for Mr. X if he actually lived among those who he is so quick to champion. He apparently resides out in the wilds of suburbia instead of the inner city. He could certainly put his talents to use in more productive ways than mere race baiting. You know, things like perhaps manage a halfway house. Perhaps run an after school program. Something productive.

It wouldn't pay as much though. That would be the rub in my opinion.

Mission Control

It seems like Houston will not get one of the Space Shuttles to display. A bit odd, considering that the city is, along with Cape Canaveral, the backbone of the American Space Program. It looks as if California, Florida, DC, and New York will be the recipients of the honor of displaying a shuttle. Ok it is not the end of the world but let us think about this a bit.

California has a lot of space related industry and has facilities that are an important part of the space program. No problem there in my mind. They deserve a shuttle.

DC is home to the Smithsonian. Of course a shuttle should be on display at the nation's premier museum. It would be stupid not to house one there.

The shuttle is launched from Cape Canaveral and it goes without saying that a shuttle needs to be on display in the Sunshine State. As a matter of record I had ring side seats to the very first shuttle that ever went into space. Yes sir from the flying bridge of the USCGC Courageous (since sold to the Sri Lanka) I witnessed the launch with the aid of the "big eyes." It was almost like I was right on top of the thing. Great. Of course I did not appreciate the significance at the time. I can also remember twice being the guard ship on the recovery of the external tanks. Those would come back to earth and land in the ocean about 150 miles (I think) or so out to sea. The initial portion of that duty was pretty cool. A helo was assigned to harass Soviet "trawlers" that were stationed in the area. Pretty interesting.  The second part of that duty was terrible. Escorting tugs towing the tanks into port was a long and boring ordeal. The tugs barely made headway and it took a good while to get them back into port. Be that as it may, Florida certainly should have a shuttle to display.

New York? New F-ing York? That is just pure stupidity. Nothing against those fine folks, but just what does New York have to do with the space program? Of course it is a "Blue" state.......That probably says it all right there. Hope those folks appreciate the hard work and sacrifice that made us (at one time) the premier leader in space exploration.

Why does Houston deserve to display a shuttle? If you have to ask that them perhaps you are either very young or just very stupid. JSC is in the Clear Lake area of Houston number one. You know the place that houses mission control. There are also many astronauts and other key personnel who live in the area and they deserve to have one of these historic pieces of equipment on display locally. A slap in the face to those fine people if you ask me. Also there is the little episode of one of the ships exploding over East Texas and scattering debris (and human remains) all over the piney woods. It is a slap in the face to their memory to not have a shuttle in Texas. A slap in the face.

Interestingly enough I heard a caller on one of the local talk shows (Outlaw Dave) mention that it is Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee's fault that Houston did not get a shuttle. A bit of a stretch there of course, but Sheila does seem to get involved in issues that are none of here business and can't seem to make her voice heard about something like this. I guess that it is because JSC is in the (predominantly white and Soviet spy laden) suburbs. Just not important enough for her to get involved I guess. Not near as important as proposing some sort of federal recognition of Michael Jackson. If she was a congresswoman worth her salt she would have had a private interview with Obama and ruined her trademark red dress or perhaps allowed her crown weave to be soiled. I jest of course and no, I don't believe it was necessarily her duty to lobby for a local home for a shuttle. She is such a dumbass though that I could not help taking a shot. A bit immature I know, but as I have noted before, my immaturity runs pretty deep.

The whole thing is not the end of the world of course, but one has to wonder if there is some underhanded politics involved. The majority of Texans would not vote for President Obama for the commissioner of the local mosquito control district.

Oh well.

S.J. Lee back on TV

Got home from work today and began to flip channels. Nothing out of the ordinary there. I wanted to check out who may be getting the upper hand in the Libyan "crisis." It appears the Colonel may well stay a bit longer than most of us thought. His forces are apparently starting to rout the opposition in some areas. Interesting little war this. Shame it is causing our price at the pump to skyrocket. I sometimes think that a little of the old imperialism is in order. None of this is what I want to talk about right now however.

Today as I was flipping channels, I came across Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on MSNBC saying she was "outraged" (again) about something or other. This is old hat for this broad but as a man who enjoys comedy I stayed to watch for a bit. It appears that Sheila, dressed in her trademark red dress and sporting some kind of crazy hairdo, is outraged about the hearings on Mohammedan extremism being "hosted" by one Rep. King. I must admit (and I hate to do so) but at one point Lee did have a bit of a point. These hearings could indeed be construed by some as prejudice. Now I have noted before I do not trust a Mohammedan. I say this despite the fact that I have known some in the taxi business who I thought were fine people. With that being said, I certainly support an investigation into homegrown (and other) Mohammedan extremism. I would like to point out however that we, as a people, must be very careful not to slide down a very slippery slope. At the bottom of that slope is denial of rights, relegation of loyal citizens to second class status, and even worse. The whole affair is a double edged sword. We do indeed need to know the extent of Islamist extremism here in the United States and we do need to root out the same. It would be much easier if American Muslims spoke out, not just in a few individual cases, but in droves, against Islamists. This is something that does not seem to be happening. The silence of our fellow citizens who happen to be Muslim is deafening. It inspires and fuels distrust. We do however need to tread very carefully here. Very carefully indeed. I do not trust Islam or the practitioners of,  but I would certainly defend an innocent Muslim against  tyranny. While I don't think the "hearings" have or will reach the level of  "McCarthyism" it still is something that must be watched with a wary eye.

Now I have noticed that some who call themselves "Liberal" are braying (again) about the instances of homegrown terrorism of the non Mohammedan variety. To that I say, "Of course not all terrorists are Muslims." Only a fool believes all dangerous persons or organizations are of the Islamist variety. What galls me though is that I get the feeling that some in the "Liberal" camp actually are hoping for some kind of attack by a "right wing" terrorist or terror organization. Then they can (shrilly, like a queen in a beauty shop) screech, "I told you so." That kind of thinking is pathetic on the part of those who, again, call themselves Liberals. The fact of the matter is that some folks on the far left are not liberal at all. They are borderline anarchist. Many hate themselves and therefore hate everything including their nation. I really wish they had not hijacked  "liberalism." I know many good folk who are liberal, and I myself, can be pretty darn liberal on some issues. These people on the fringe left are far from liberal. Many of them are "fifth columnists" and are damaging our country.

Loons From The Houston Area

There are a couple of loons in Congress from the greater Houston area that warrant a small bit of discussion. Of course anyone who reads this blog knows the great respect I hold for Sheila Jackson Lee. A brilliant woman and a pillar of the community. She just has to get her mug on the television so we all will come to understand the unbelievable intelligence of this woman. I jest of course. Jackson Lee is a loon and there is no mistaking it. I am sure that at some point in time, during a lucid moment, she actually has had a good idea. Perhaps. Hard to believe though as she is a dumbass sure.
Now we come to Ron Paul. Dr. Paul is an interesting character and I must admit that he represents the district in which I live. He actually lives just down the road as a matter of fact. Now Paul is in no danger of losing his seat in this neighborhood and barring getting caught with his pants down, will be able to stay as long as he wants. No Democrat or Republican that I know of has any chance of unseating Paul. Now Dr. Paul is not really a Republican at all. He is a Libertarian who runs under the banner of the Elephant for convenience sake. I would not doubt however that if he chose to run as a member of the Libertarian Party that he would still win hands down. It is no doubt that Paul has some good ideas but many of them? Wow!! Alrighty then. Unfortunately the man is a loon. Not a dumbass like S.J. Lee, but probably, when all is considered, more of a nut. While there are plenty of nuts, dumbasses, and fools in the hallowed halls, it may be rare for two people to come from the same immediate area (except in perhaps the Bay Area). Lee and Paul are a couple of nuts. Paul is interesting in a more "Boy this guy is out there" way while Lee is just someone to laugh at. Nutjobs both.

Did the Man Look Orange?

I watched the State of the Union address in its entirety evening last. It seemed to me like a pretty good speech but of course like most other SOTU addresses, it can all be taken with a grain of salt. With that being said, I just did not take anything the man said seriously. How could I? There are some things I did notice however that struck me as kind of interesting. Apparently the make up that President Obama was wearing was applied too thickly or the wrong shade was used or something. The man looked orange. Maybe it was just my television but I swear the man looked the same shade as one of those hookers on that "trash tv" show "Jerseylicious." You would think that the White House would have some competent make up artists on contract for major public appearances. Another thing of note was the (of course) appearance of that dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee. She was not wearing red this time but some kind of "dress" that was a loud yellow. She, a rather unimportant member of Congress, obviously pushed her way up to the aisle to be on television for all the nation to see. She does this type of thing all the time. It is really rather amusing but at the same time, a bit sad.  The poor woman is an embarrassment to her district, the city of Houston, and all Texas. Now the most funny thing to me was Vice President Biden. The man could not resist, even for an hour, of "jacking around"  as the President spoke. Not even for an hour! Did you notice him making some silly gestures to someone as Obama spoke? For some reason Fuzzy Zoeller came to mind. Do you remember when Zoeller innocently made some kind of racist remarks about Tiger Woods after Tiger won his first Masters? Zoeller was too stupid to understand that he would be lambasted for what he said and of course he was "taken to task" for his rather insensitive remarks. I kind of get the feeling that Biden is the type guy to make some sort of dumb ass remarks in public and get himself in hot water. The Obama administration must live in fear of Biden on the loose. I guess that is about it really. The speech was typical B.S. as far as I could tell and the response(s) just about as inane. Oh wait. John Boehner did have a nice tie. That was important.

Sheila Jackson Lee for Minority Leader? I Would Support That.

This afternoon I briefly listened to Houston talk show great Michael Berry and he suggested that Lee campaign for the position of minority leader. That would be great. The nation would then all have a chance to be entertained with continual dumbass statements while attempting to understand her dialect. I would certainly be in favor of that. I enjoy comedy as much as the next guy. Forget Pelosi, she may not want the job anyway. - I want Lee. Lee makes Pelosi sound downright sane. Go for it Sheila. You know your ego demands it. It is unfortunate that the Democratic party would probably not go for it. On second thought maybe they will.  After all they chose Obama.

John Faulk loses to Sheila Jackson Lee: Racism in Action

Well as expected John Faulk has lost the race for the 18th Congressional District of Texas to the incumbent Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee. There is really no reason for this other than Faulk is a white male. The  district is composed of minority voters who, for the most part, are some of the poorest people in the region. Dumbass Sheila Jackson Lee still apparently appeals to those folks for some reason or other. Do they not realize that Lee is an embarrassment to the region, the state and more importantly, to those people in her district? The woman can not even speak English. She communicates in some way out near unintelligible dialect. Faulk would have been a much better person in the position. At least he would be taken seriously and not be the butt of jokes for idiotic ineptitude. Perhaps  another reputable candidate, who happens to be black, may be able to defeat her at some point. Lee is a dumbass and no mistake. Maybe someday someone will beat her. It will take a black person to do the job no doubt. Many (most?) voters in the district are so conditioned to be racist that no other skin color will do. There is a bright side however. We will continue to be entertained by the stupid things the woman says and does. Wonder what will be next. 

A Bit More on Sheila Jackson Lee

I have been thinking a bit today of the esteemed Congresswoman from the Houston area - one Sheila Jackson Lee. I have pointed out before that this woman is a stupid individual and there is really no dispute. To borrow a phrase from "Groper (allegedly)Gore; "the debate is over."  Lee is one dumb ass. Now as I have stated before calling another person stupid - in open forum - is tasteless and disrespectful. In some cases an exception can be made and this is one of them.
Today a friend of mine told me that a caller on the Michael Berry show said that over the weekend Lee barged her way up uninvited to speak at some event. This is something that she is known to do on a fairly regular basis. I have seen this behavior myself.

I was bartending a party just prior to the Super Bowl in Houston a few short years ago and Lee was in attendance. The event was held at some venue that is known as "The Parador" at the corner of Almeda and Binz. At one point during the festivities Lee decides to hop up on the stage and begin speaking. This went on for ten or fifteen minutes and it was obvious that the party goers were becoming antsy. She embarrassed herself and did not even realize it. Now at the time I really was not all that familiar with the woman, but have since learned a great deal about her. She is an embarrassment to her district, the city, and the state in general. The poor woman is just dumb.
Incidentally at this same party, I met the Very "Reverend" Jesse Jackson. Shook hands with him and everything. At one point he sort of disappeared; the Parador is a big venue after all. It was rumored that he found himself a little strange and was doing the do somewhere. Glad I shook his hand before he vanished and not after he reappeared. No telling where his hand may have been.

Sheila Jackson Lee and Named Storms
