This Island Dispute Thing Could Get Out Of Control

Japan and China are in a dispute over some small specks of land that are situated in the general vicinity of both of nations' mainland. China also has some territorial disputes with Vietnam and the Philippines over some other small specs.

In the case of the Japanese/Chinese dispute the islands do appear to be marginally closer to Red China to be sure. Also adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the area around the island is claimed by the Republic of China (Taiwan). Interesting. Taiwan has territorial claims; as a free and independent nation does, while Red China does not recognize Republican China as an independent state.

It is doubtful that any shots will be fired in the ongoing dispute. Taiwan and Japan fear the PRC and the PRC fears Japan (and the United States). This will probably be no more than a diplomatic stand off for years to come.

It is these kinds of international tensions however that should make it clear to those in the U.S. halls of power that continued wrangling with Mohammadens is a distraction and a sideshow. Any real problem with a Middle Eastern  nation can be dealt with by a pragmatic and brutal strategy with the issue decided in short order.

The real danger and problem facing the West and our western leaning friends is not so much some sort of strike by Iran, but a resurgent and militant Russia along with a surging Red China (and her North Korean proxy).

Who do your prefer? Japan or China?

We Better Get Our Shiite Together

The country is in free fall. I feel it in my urine. Don't you? There is enough blame to go around and it is getting really just a bit sickening to listen to people blaming the "Tea Party," the current and former POTUS, and just about everyone else except Ron Jeremy. There are some things that this country needs to do now to get our house in order.

We need to immediately take measures to reduce our debt.

Companies that outsource jobs to enemy nations such as Red China need to be required to bring these jobs back to the United States or cease operations immediately. I can do without overpriced shoes that have an American name but a "made in China" label.

We need to close the southern border.

We need to drastically reduce foreign aid.

The list goes on and on. We need to look after our interests first and foremost.

There was nothing about this little rant that was well thought out, but when I hear of  (let us be honest) third world nations, like Red China and Russia lecturing us it gets my dander up. It was horrible just having to endure the Soviet Putin calling us parasites the other day.

China and Russia need to feed their own people before pointing any fingers at any other nation. If we did not materially help the Sovs with the Nazi threat the Wehrmacht may have run all the way to the Orient. Perhaps we would have seen the spectre of Japanese and German (and affiliated) troops trading dark beer and rice wine. Perhaps not. Germany was quite overextended but that is beside the point. Of course a little gratitude from the Sovs is too much to ask. Especially after years of feeding them while their tanks were poised to race into Western Europe and their sub fleet was in position to cause havoc on the world oceans. They are of little consequence now.

China is ascendant and a long term danger. Perhaps much more than the Soviets ever were. The only difference is we are helping them move ahead unlike the Soviet Union where we  helped them just keep their population fed. We can (in part at least) thank short sighted Western corporate interests and the lackey political class for that. Does that sound "liberal" or "progressive" to you? I don't think so. I think it sounds American.

Irritating the Red Chinese

It appears that some ethnic unrest is taking place in the Xinjaing region of Red China. The Mohammedan minority is thought to be a "danger" to the cohesiveness of the country and the communist regime is intent, it seems, to put a stop to said unrest. In this particular case I will side with the followers of the Prophet, not because I really care much about the aspirations of the Uighur people, but I do take an interest in the problems they (or anyone) can cause China.

This particular region is home to the Uighur people, who are ethnically distinct from the predominant Han Chinese. The communist govt has apparently been relocating Han people to the region in a sort of Chinese version of lebensraum. A brilliant move in the social engineering department and will likely have the ultimate affect of completely displacing the minority. Now I am certainly and by no means an expert on the area, but it seems that this is the type of (again) social engineering that is practiced by the Red Chinese regime. The same type thing is reportedly being seen in Tibet.

China is intent on becoming a world power politically, economically and militarily. Anything that can cause them a problem, no matter how slight, in achieving that goal is good for the West, regional democracies, and Western allies in that part of the world.

That would be why I support the people of Tibet, the Republic of China,  and yes even this particular group of "Chinese" Mohammedans.

Containment of China is of utmost long term importance.

Junk from the Reds

I have found out from leticiasworld.blogspot.com that there is a push to buy American made products in the month of May. Specifically targeted (to not buy) are those products that are made in Red China. Good. I try to avoid buying anything made there anyway and for the most part do pretty well.  Have to hunt around a good bit but one can find products that are American made. Just today I purchased a little plastic funnel that was, believe it or not, American made. Usually it is the cheap plastic junk that one can be assured is made in the PRC. A couple years back I actually bought a BBQ grill, from an American company, that I found  was actually made in the PRC. I did not take it back but I did fire off an email to the "American" firm. Never got a response. Imagine that.

I try to do my best to buy products that are made in the USA (or Canada) but it is not often easy. I do not mind buying products that are made in nations that are our allies. I have no problem buying Israel, NATO (Turkey not included), Korea, ROC,  some South American nations and to some extent, Japanese. This is of course if American or Canadian products are not available.  I will not knowingly buy anything made in a Mohammedan dominant nation. Especially food products. You know, what with a Jihad going on and all.  Sorry. I also do not buy products of Mexico. Shame because I truly love most Jarritos sodas. There are some very good beers brewed in Mexico (not Corona of course) but I refrain from making a purchase.  I am not a tequila man thank goodness, but if I were, I would try some of J.B. Wagoners California Agave product. Might be hard to find and perhaps not of the same quality  (I don't know) as the "real deal" but it is a sacrifice I would make.

I just try not to buy products from a nation that is an enemy (or likely enemy) of this country. I guess that makes me a bad person. I suppose I am just not inclusive enough. Or something.

A Pleasant Surprise

The multitudes that read this humble blog know that I do a little substitute teaching once in a while. Well lately it has been a full time gig which is good even though a sub is a tad (a huge tad) underpaid. The crap that one has to put up from kids can get a little old but I have been at the same school the whole year and have gained the respect of the kids. Well the other day an Army recruiter was making his rounds at the school and stopped by "my" classroom to chat. Nice kid. He had been to Iraq twice and currently has a soft recruiting job. Probably deserves a break. At any rate he gave me a nice coffee mug before he left and it was much appreciated as I drink a lot of "Joe." I thought no more about it for a while. Yesterday for some reason I decided to see where this mug was made. I figured the country of origin would be Red China. I was pleasantly surprised to see the "Made in USA" stamp on the bottom. It would have been disturbing to find a mug advertising one of our armed forces to have been made by the industry of an enemy nation. I expected it though. I surely did.

Cops at the Red Chinese Consulate in Houston

Apparently some Houston cops are under fire for allegedly roughing up someone in the PRC consulate on Montrose Street in Houston. If the report is correct then those cops made an error in judgement. That would not be too surprising though. They apparently said they did not know that they were on consulate property. That of course is ridiculous because everybody knows that the building in question is the PRC consulate.
The whole affair is somewhat amusing.

Next door to the Red China's diplomatic outpost is a small strip center that features a Mexican restaurant, Einsteins Bagels, , Starbucks, and a few other small concerns. If you park in the lot and are not patronizing one of the businesses then you will get towed. As an off and on Houston cabbie, I fairly often work the area and have taken a couple of pissed off Chinese citizens to the impound lot on Elgin. I sort of enjoy it although you can bet that there is no tip involved. In fact, there once was an argument about paying my legitimate fare. If this happens again I will call a cop mainly just for the entertainment value. My friend, another sometime cabbie, pretty much exclusively works the Montrose area and has taken far more people to the impound yard to reclaim their vehicles than I have. He was once accused by a PRC citizen (is that more politically correct than saying Red Chinese?) of being in league with the towing company. That of course is not true but it certainly would be more profitable than just taking people to pick up their cars. Cabbies always have street scams going that put a few bucks in the pocket. Nothing wrong with that. Recommending the "gentleman's club" that pays you the most in finder fees is a good way to put a few bucks in your pocket. Just the way it is.

As I said, it is fun to take PRC citizens to the impound yard to get their cars back. I don't like a Red Chinese consulate in the neighborhood anyway.

Do You Trust A Multi National Corporation?

The other night I was doing a bartending gig for a well known multi national corporation. These things are very common in the Houston area although they tend not to be all that profitable from a bartenders point of view. Hourly pay is about all that can be expected, anything above that is rare and very surprising. Other than the crappy compensation, there is something that really bothers me about some of these events. At this particular event there were quite a few people from mainland China in attendance. Now I certainly have nothing particularly against these folks personally but I must admit I do not trust them. I have a gut feeling that China is doing all it can to undermine the U.S. and is unfortunately aided in that endeavour by corporations that have their headquarters in this country. I am certainly not educated in international business but I do know something that is wrong when I see it. At least I saw no Americans (or any others for that matter) bowing and scraping to these representatives of Red China. I once was a bartender at a gig at the Toyota Center where American citizens were bowing to our Chinese guests. I suppose they were just being polite culturally speaking, but it is traditional that we in this country bow to know one. I certainly did not. Glad I was not fired. I'm not sure if our current president has gotten the memo on the whole bowing thing however.

Do those in the multinationals not understand that doing business with enemies and potential enemies (not sure which category China falls under) is damaging to this nation? I guess not. Why should they care? They take their cue from the U.S. government. Hell there are more Soviets (Russians) at the Johnson Space Center than there are in the NHL. Our multinationals and indeed those in our government just do not get it.

The world is a dangerous place and there will always be enemies. Why aid them?
We will pay for it one day. In spades!!
