This Island Dispute Thing Could Get Out Of Control

Japan and China are in a dispute over some small specks of land that are situated in the general vicinity of both of nations' mainland. China also has some territorial disputes with Vietnam and the Philippines over some other small specs.

In the case of the Japanese/Chinese dispute the islands do appear to be marginally closer to Red China to be sure. Also adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the area around the island is claimed by the Republic of China (Taiwan). Interesting. Taiwan has territorial claims; as a free and independent nation does, while Red China does not recognize Republican China as an independent state.

It is doubtful that any shots will be fired in the ongoing dispute. Taiwan and Japan fear the PRC and the PRC fears Japan (and the United States). This will probably be no more than a diplomatic stand off for years to come.

It is these kinds of international tensions however that should make it clear to those in the U.S. halls of power that continued wrangling with Mohammadens is a distraction and a sideshow. Any real problem with a Middle Eastern  nation can be dealt with by a pragmatic and brutal strategy with the issue decided in short order.

The real danger and problem facing the West and our western leaning friends is not so much some sort of strike by Iran, but a resurgent and militant Russia along with a surging Red China (and her North Korean proxy).

Who do your prefer? Japan or China?

Shocking. Just Shocking

It is being reported that another Mohammedan soldier has been implicated in an alleged plot to cause carnage at Ft. Hood.  Are we supposed to be surprised at this latest bit of news?

I Must Admit That I Am SIck of Mohammedans

Apparently there has been another murder of American troops. This time some Airmen in Germany were gunned down. Of course the "alleged" culprit is a Mohammedan.  Imagine that.

Wonder where the Gas Prices will finally Settle

This afternoon I paid near three bucks a gallon for gas. We are lucky in this part of the country; our prices generally tend to be a bit lower than most areas of the nation. Still three bucks is a chunk of change sure. Of course the "summer blend" will be in manufacture soon and this jacks the price up to some extent or at least we are told that is one reason the prices tend to go up just prior to the Memorial Day holiday. That is BS and we all know it but we all just play along and continue to buy fuel. What choice do we have? Riding subways and trains is not an option for most of us in this country and thank goodness for that. If one is stuck riding a subway or a train to work then likely one lives in an area that I sure don't want to live. I did spend a bit of time in NYC as a younger man and enjoyed it but that was another time. Would not do it now. At any rate, with the Mohammedans in an uproar, especially if said uproar spreads throughout the region as it is likely to do, the price of fuel may rise due to legitimate reasons. Already there is some unrest apparently in Algeria. Of course Egypt is the most problematic at this time due to the proximity of the Suez Canal. Are the Gulf States next? If so then watch the price of fuel skyrocket. This is the price we pay for not being energy independent.

Strippers vs Mohammedans

I read an opinion piece by a blogger the other day (I forgot which site) who pointed out that the area around Ground Zero is not really "sacred" because there are some strip clubs in the vicinity. Apparently it was his reasoning that if there are such establishments in the area, then a house of worship would be an improvement. Typical nonsense from the extreme left. I would like to point out, and correct me if I am wrong, that there have been no known cases of titty dancers flying airplanes into national landmarks and military installations. Maybe I just missed it. I have not been keeping up with the news of late.

Is there a "Third Way"?

To the casual and not so casual observer it is apparent that our country is in one hellavu mess. Unemployment is most likely higher than reported, the deficit is unbelievable, we are involved in conflicts that may eventually fail due to politics and, dare I say, cowardice on the part of our elected leaders, our southern border is not secure, etc. etc. ad nauseum. There is plenty of blame to go around and both of our major political organizations have proven themselves to be incapable at best and in some individual cases, downright treasonous.
As a recovering left of center thinker with still some definite liberal ideas (according to some) I should find it very difficult to believe that the Democrat(ic) Party has evolved (or devolved) into spouting borderline Marxist ideology. I should find it difficult to believe but I don't. I would have a few years ago, but I have educated myself on those that sit to the left. Perhaps it is because I grew up in the South and still remember (or more accurately heard talk of) some of the old line Southern Democrats. A good many of those folks were not what one could call liberal. Before educating myself I knew little of the policies of Woodrow Wilson and FDR. I did know a good deal about the antebellum Democratic Party that of course split at the Charleston Convention just prior to the Civil War. Stephen Douglas, not a liberal man by any stretch of the imagination, was just not quite "right" on the slavery issue and southerners would not dream of nominating him. The election had the anomaly of having two separate Democratic candidates for President. Of course that all but ensured that the Republican candidate, one A. Lincoln, would win the office. It is funny that old Abe himself was not by any means "liberal" on the slavery question, but that is another story for another time perhaps. Before I ramble too much more, I guess the point would be that the Democratic Party is now in the hands of an extremest faction that some believe could be every bit as damaging to the nation as the "southern" Democrats of the 1850's and 60's. That group should be held most responsible for starting the ball in motion that led to the Civil War and in retrospect can be labeled extremist. Of course those so subscribed in that era believed their arguments to be perfectly rational. I would imagine that current Democrats believe their positions and ideology to be perfectly rational also. It is quite possible that they will be remembered in history as fools and dangerous extremists.

That does not let the Republican Party off the hook by any means. The two Bush's have not been what one could call very effective. It is true that the recent Bush did a pretty fair job of protecting the country and probably did the best he could to get the ball rolling in Iraq and Afghanistan, but under his watch the whole "War on Terror" evolved into nation building, which by the way, does not have a very good track record. It has become apparent that there will be no real vengeance unleashed for the assault on our soil. Certainly not now with the current administration will there be proper payback. Bush also absolutely refused to take care of the border problem and indeed the problem exacerbated under his watch. We now have a war on our southern border that will spill over into this country. Already has I fear. This is not his fault alone, but he and the Republican Party in general, must share with the Democrats blame for selling America short on this issue. It is a national defense problem, every bit as important to deal with as the issue with the Mohammedans. I think the final straw for me and the Republican Party was when that supposed party stalwart, Lindsey Graham, praised Sonia Sotomayor for having "an open mind" on the Second Amendment to the Constitution. "Open mind?" I thought to myself. That is nuts, there is no room for an "open mind" on the issue. It is dead issue; an open and shut case if you will. There should be no further room for discussion. This cowardly performance by Graham sealed the deal for me. The current Republican Party is near as out of touch as the Democrats. Oh and of course we now have another leftist nut on the Court.

With the current state of the nation there are many of us now who are searching for another way. Perhaps another party that would better represent the majority of us. So I began to explore and investigate other parties and unfortunately find myself still somewhat disillusioned.

I first began my quest by automatically disregarding any party with the words "labor" or "social" in any way associated with their respective names. Those small parties are nothing more than small groups of disaffected citizens who erroneously believe that some brand of Marxism or other silly "ism" is the way of the future. They don't know, understand, or perhaps they just disregard the historical lessons that various "isms" pass down to us.

I disregarded the Libertarian Party out of hand simply because I do not believe that real honest to God Libertarianism (another ism) is realistic. I would suspect that many who are advocates of true Libertarianism have not any idea where that road would take the nation. I would further suspect that a good many that associate themselves with the "Tea Party" subscribe to Libertarian thinking. Now that is good to a point, but Libertarianism taken to the extreme would be anarchic.

The Green Party I lump with the various minor Socialist styled parties. They have some good ideas of course but for the most part they are unrealistic and silly folks.

Now I will tell you now that I am a nationalist. I make no apologies for this. Of course nationalist can certainly be misconstrued. The left has successfully equated anyone who considers themselves a nationalist with extreme far right wing, racist, and intolerant tendencies. They believe them to be dangerous individuals. That is hogwash of course. A true nationalist is not a racist, on the contrary, a nationalist believes that America is a indeed a melting pot and should be so. A nationalist does believe that when one becomes an American then they become an American "firster" if you will. Ancestral origin and actual origin matter little (with perhaps an exception; read on). As long as a person is here in a legal fashion, puts America first, and strives to be a productive citizen then they are welcome. Being a legal immigrant, (emphais on legal) with an eye on becoming a citizen, is no crime and in fact is to be commended. Now here comes the rub. If one looks up any sort of "Nationalist Party" one does indeed find groups that are racially intolerant (to say the least). Some of these political organizations might even be dangerous.

I have some knowledge of Dr. Duke, having lived in Louisiana for quite a time, and he would be considered tolerant when compared to some of these so called "nationalist" groups. That is saying a lot. Funny thing, a while back those supporters of Duke and his organization had some sort of convention in Memphis. Now I was stationed in Memphis for a bit and can tell you that the demographics are for the most part non Caucasian. Many African Americans work in the hotel/convention industry in that city and I just wonder how many of the racist conventioneers had "a little wang" added to their souffle? Mark my words, I am sure it happened. At any rate, it is a shame that the word "nationalism" is associated with such odious groups. They are not nationalists rather they are ignorant, separatist, racist scum. It would be easy to laugh them off but to do so may be as dangerous as disregarding Mohammedans in our midst. I must say a word about followers of the Prophet before I close. I must admit that I do have some prejudice toward them, no matter the country of origin. I do not believe however that there is any conflict in my belief that a true nationalists embraces this nation as a melting pot. There is a deep seated suspicion on my part (am I alone?) that many followers of Islam may well put their religious beliefs before the well being of the nation with possible disastrous results. Sorry if that logic bothers you.

I am still researching third parties and may well find one that is to my liking. Or perhaps not.

Just Don't Know What to Say About All This

The gusher continues unabated. The BP oil spill? That too. The gusher I am speaking of is the mouth of "Our Dear Leader." Problem is - nothing he says means much it seems. We have heard some of the 1200 National Guard troops that are to be deployed to the southern border. Have any of them arrived for duty? Now there are to supposedly be 17000 troops deployed to the gulf - to assist in the clean up effort I suppose. There is something drastically wrong with this. While 17000 troops to the southern border may be of some assistance of stopping the invasion and keeping the enemy in their place, 17000 troops to the gulf is ridiculous. Why? There is already economic disruption along the gulf and there would easily be 17000 people that could be "hired," at BP's expense of course, to assist in the clean up effort. The disruption, (which will be made much worse by a long term "moratorium,") has displaced those in the fishing, tourism, oil and gas, and various support industries. Like a domino effect if you will. Already in Texas we are seeing some of the effects of this. People who were scheduled to go offshore to work are being told they are on hold. I know at least two people so affected in my small community. Now a short term "moratorium" should have already come and gone. It should have been considered more of a "safety stand down" with the purpose of reviewing safety procedures, equipment, etc. etc. This type of procedure is done in the U.S. Navy and various industries, particularly after an accident. Now BP is in fact a problem and it is well known that they have a safety issue, but to economically crush an entire industry is irresponsible and foolish. This administration is sure to further damage the American economy and even more importantly our defense capabilities with any long term stoppage in deepwater drilling. Perhaps that is the plan.

Now we come to our president's choice of words. To call the horrible oil spill an "assault on our shores" is the equivalent to saying that BP has committed an act of war upon this nation. Such choice of language infuriates those in the United Kingdom, one of our most important allies. An ally which has troops shoulder to shoulder with our forces in the war with the Mohammedans. Why go out of the way to distress our true allies? Again BP appears to be a menace and a rogue player in the oil industry, but President Obama's language appears directed at the people of the UK. Maybe he really just reads what is on the teleprompter.....

The "Arizona Immigration Law" is now under attack from the administration. The federal government will likely stop at nothing to derail it. Why? It appears to be a well thought out and really quite a benign "solution" to the problem of invasion and violence. Those in DC are out of touch. Arizona was forced to take some measure due to a total lack of response from the entity that is supposed to defend this nation - The U.S. government. I wish that those that govern in Texas had the cajones to follow Arizona, but alas, they are cowards. Our governor is a blow dried empty suit and this is not in dispute.

Now Eric Holder is the Atty General of this land and the agency in his charge has made it clear by action that they have no intention of seriously combating the crises on our border. There is a war there after all that is beginning to seriously threaten our citizens. When Holder took the oath of office, he swore to uphold the law and yet it is apparent that he has, probably by direction, no intention of doing so. Where will that lead us?

These are things that just seem to defy understanding. In just over a year this administration has begun to cause damage that may take many years to undo. The shift in our attitude to our admittedly unpredictable, yet very important, ally Israel has had the effect of confusing our allies while giving comfort to the Mohammedan enemy. The targeting of an entire industry due to one (very serious) accident is foolish. This policy, if not reversed immediately, will cause a major disruption in the economy. The lack of defense on the southern border will cause the violent death of American citizens. Already has. I don't want to hear some suit tell us on the television that Obama has been instrumental in beefing up the Border Patrol. That is nice - and totally inadequate. Some of those same border agents will be further put in harms way without adequate military back up. It is apparent that only a complete militarization of the border will solve the problem at this point.

Sorry for rambling. It is just apparent that the current administration is hell bent on damaging this great nation. A nation that I served honorably in uniform, both military and civil. It makes me sick to my heart.

Taken to Task

I have been taken to task on a couple of issues. Yes Sir, taken to task indeed. The other day I mentioned in one of my oft read (lol) rants that Libertarian(ism) is a prescription for anarchy. I live in Ron Paul country and that type of thinking can tend to be anathema around here. Now these folks are not what I would call conservative, many have no use whatsoever for the federal, state and sometimes local government. A good many are true Libertarians. Now I do agree that there needs to be drastic reduction in the size of the federal and state government - after all, do we really need the Bureau of Indian Affairs? I also totally agree that the feds need to get the heck out of people's business and get the hell out of the way, but an almost complete dismantling of the federal government is ridiculous. I stand by my statement. True Libertarianism (is that a word?) may be a prescription for disaster.

I have also been reprimanded on my use of the word "Mohammedan(s)." I have been informed that this is insulting verbiage and is in the same vein as using the "N" word. In response I must ask a question. Have you ever seen the old Viagra television commercials featuring ex major league great Rafael Palmeiro? If Viagra is good enough for Rafael then it is good enough for me. If the term "Mohammedan" is good enough for Winston Churchill and Bertrand Russell to describe the followers of the Prophet well then it is good enough for me too.

For The First Time In My Adult Life ...........

For the first time in my adult life (where have we heard that?) I am afraid for the future of our nation. Why? A myriad of reasons. Here are a few.

The BP oil spill is a "man caused disaster" of perhaps biblical proportion. It must be said that the "biblical proportion" part may be overstated. It is probable that the oceans will break down the petroleum and the environmental damage will be minimized. You must note that I did not say minimal however. The salt and fresh water marshes that have been affected will take a very long time to come back. The fishing industry, both commercial and recreational, have taken a huge hit and many of those who make their living in these endeavors will not be coming back. The tourism industry will be affected to a great extent but that should not be long term. Of course this is all dependent on BP "plugging the damn hole." It will be plugged before long (hopefully)or we are certainly all up the ass of the Prophet. While the environmental damage is and will be quite significant the thing that really scares me is the radical faction(s) in the federal government now have an excuse to damage or destroy an industry that is of prime importance to the economic well being and national security of the nation. How? By severely curtailing off shore oil drilling. Now I may be in favor of a temporary "moratorium" on deepwater drilling - It is apparent that the oil industry has little idea how to stop a major oil spill at those depths, but it is assured that lessons are being learned the hard way. It would have been better for all concerned of course if the oil industry had a real game plan before a disaster of this magnitude, but it is obvious they did and do not. Of course they should be required to "plug the damn hole," pay for clean up, and restore livelihood to those adversely affected. It is interesting the BP is the company involved in this disaster. They do appear to have a very bad safety record. Either they are extremely unlucky or they have some major safety deficiencies to rectify. Be that as it may, a temporary deepwater moratorium does make some sense, but shallow water drilling and of course land work should continue unabated. It truly frightening but somewhat predictable that the government may try to totally derail the industry at the cost of untold thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

Now back to deepwater drilling- Pemex (Mexico) apparently is operating deepwater rigs in the Gulf. India and China and of course Cuba considering (if not already are) drilling in the Gulf in the Cuban economic zone. Agreements have been signed by Cuba and Russia also. So if these countries are to drill deepwater then our nation still is at great risk to having unabated petroleum foul the Gulf and wash up on our shores. Will the moratorium on deepwater drilling affect the aforementioned nations? Not at all. Can the U.S. force a deepwater moratorium on foreign interests. Not legally. Our government could I suppose invoke a bastardized version of the Monroe Doctrine to enforce compliance. That may of course require military coercion - something that will not happen. The naval forces of Mexico are pretty darn good, with anti air and ASW capabilities, are probably close to top notch for a third world nation, but would be swept from the ocean in a matter of hours by the sea power of the U.S. Cuba has no navy to speak of any more. A few Osa class missile boats I believe are the only naval forces left functional. Not a threat. The diplomatic and military outcome of tampering with Russia, China or India over Gulf oil rigs would be problematic. No any military response to foreign deepwater drilling in the Gulf is out of the question. So what good does a moratorium on deepwater drilling do in reality? Very little. If it be temporary, so be it. A time out if you will and probably a good idea. However, the moratorium may be a first step in the dismantling of an industry that is of vital importance to the nation. That is what scares me. Fundamental change you see.

Now let us examine another subject. The assault of illegal immigration upon this nation's sovereignty. This is a national defense issue of great importance. There is at this time a war being fought on our southern border that is every bit as dangerous as the conflicts in the Middle East and Afghanistan. What are we doing to protect our citizenry in the border states and beyond? Very little it seems. Some border patrolmen, county deputies, small town cops, state troopers, etc etc. are not enough to stop the invasion nor prevent the war from spilling over into our southern counties. We will hear some leftists complain that the border violence is a direct result of drug consumption by those in the U.S. They have a valid point here, but in reality that does not matter. What does matter is that the border and even interior Mexico are becoming more and more anarchic and that violence will and has found its way over the border. This does not even include the possibility of Mohammedan terrorists crossing the border. Does national defence not matter? Seal that border and do it now and with any means necessary. This would seem the most rational policy. Instead what we have are attempts by states to control the problem that will be hampered by the same federal government that is required to protect this nation. A very scary (and perhaps treasonous) scenario indeed.

I guess now we should discuss Mohammedan terrorism, both state sponsored and "independent." There is no doubt that this nation and our allies are still in grave danger from the spectre of Islamic terrorism. It has been near a decade since the horrible attack on our country. We are not the only nations so affected. There have been attacks in Spain and the U.K. Troops from all over the globe have been killed in the war against "the religion of peace." Oh sorry, we are not in a war with Islam? Excuse me. History shows otherwise. Now again there are those, mainly from the left (Pat B. and some right wing radicals like Dr. Duke excepted), who insist that our support of Israel and our "exploitation" of Mohammedan resources are the main factors of the conflict. They insinuate that if we would just drop our support for the "Zionist entity" and remove our boot from Muslim lands then all would be forgotten and we could all live in harmony. Perhaps they have a valid point, but that matters little. At any rate, does a cop concern himself with the socio economic background of a criminal when making an arrest? No. We as a nation need not concern ourselves too greatly on why we are hated by most Mohammedans either. It is enough for the cop to make an arrest based on criminal action as well it should be. It should also be enough for us in this nation not to concern ourselves to greatly with the "whys" in the conflict with Islam. It is enough that we are in conflict and should fight the battle without one hand tied behind our back. In a sane world there would be no such thing as an Iran, Al Qaeda, Hamas, etc. etc. The problem would have already been resolved satisfactorily. The fact that it is not scares me.

What else. Well for one thing this country needs to take a look at some sort of education reform. The classic liberal education (not politically liberal) does not seem to be working for us any longer. Our nation's children are falling behind. Curriculum is dumbed down and this is detrimental to our national security. Of course children should be taught history, social studies, English literature, etc. etc. but a greater emphasis should be placed on mathematics and the hard sciences. There is a lot of fluff in the public school systems that do very little to educate kids for the real world. There are a lot of kids who are not, as the say, "college material." There is no shame in this. Some kids just are not interested in college and in reality some are not "geared that way." There should also be some real world vocational training in the systems that can teach a kid to frame houses, work on automobiles, start small business, food prep training, etc. etc. Some districts have this already of course, but a great many rely solely on a "college prep" curriculum for all. It wastes a good deal of time for those not so inclined to further their "formal" studies.
The federal government probably should have a role in education of course, but the majority of the decision making needs to be at the local level. Of course there are a great many school districts that struggle financially just to provide the basic "readin, writin and rithmathtic." This is a huge problem and we in this nation need to find a solution. Quickly.

These are just a few of the problems this great nation faces but we need to start somewhere to get this nation back on track. We will surely go the way of the Roman Empire if we do not begin the process now.

For the first time in my adult life I am truly afraid for our future.

Mohammedans, May Day, Massive Environmental Damage and Now - North Korea

Today is May Day which of course was a major event in the former Soviet Union. It is kind of ironic that it is also a day that leftists in this nation use for highlighting the "plight" of the American worker. It is also a bit funny that now "immigration advocates" (read illegal immigration advocates) have hijacked this day to rally in support of criminality. It would be funny if it were not so sad.

It appears that the incident in the Gulf of Mexico may well turn out to be an environmental disaster of unprecedented magnitude. Of course the whole thing is now being politicized by those on the left (and right). This is disgusting but certainly no surprise. Oil giant BP is under attack from many quarters and probably deservedly so, but in reality the rig was operated by a company called Transocean. Now Halliburton is being targeted also. That is predictable of course. The evil Halliburton which according to leftists is responsible for all the evils of the world apparently did some work on the rig. That being said however it must also be noted that BP does appear to be a menace. Their refinery in Texas City, TX. is known to be unsafe. A fact proven a few years ago with an explosion that killed and maimed people working there. Any casual observer can see that it is not the safest environment. I used to drive chemical tankers in and out of that particular facility and had the gut feeling that it was a death trap. Of course oil refining and the chemical production is a dangerous business anyway and accidents will happen.
As far as the disaster in the Gulf goes - There are already a bunch of people hatching and believing conspiracy theories, most of which are (hopefully) crazy. I have read that this may be an "attack" by environmental terrorists. I have also read that the administration itself is responsible for the disaster to further political ends. Combine this with the mine disaster in WV the other day and it is obvious that these events will help the "green energy" (anti energy) movement. To accuse the administration of orchestrating these tragic events is however almost as crazy as those "911 truthers." At least one hopes so.
Another interesting theory has surfaced that North Korean special forces were responsible for damaging the oil platform. This is pretty far fetched also, but it is worth noting that there was apparently a North Korean ship in the general vicinity. The U.S., France, UK, and Israel are not the only nations that sport special forces. This really seems out there, but a state of war does still exist between the two Koreas and the rig was apparently built by Hyundai Heavy Industries. It is something to at least think about. Perhaps a good idea for a novel. If you remember in "Red Storm Rising" Tom Clancy opened the story with Mohammedans launching a terrorist attack on a Soviet oil facility.
Probably what happened was a massive failure that cost lives and will have huge adverse environmental impact.
Does this mean that we stop drilling for energy? Of course not. That would be stupid although it may be what the current administration ultimately has in mind. I pose these questions to you. Would you like to pay 7.00 per gallon? How would we fuel our war machines? These are legitimate and necessary questions. Whether one likes it or not our military readiness is of paramount importance. I suppose we could power our warships with sails and use horses to pull our land artillery. Is there a need to explore alternatives to petroleum? Of course there is, but until such time as they are found we depend on petroleum. Let us not throw the baby out with the bath water as they say. We need to become energy independent, which at this time means we need to continue drilling for oil while recognizing the fact that there will be occasional disasters that will have to be cleaned up. To think otherwise is Utopian, childish and (dare I say) stupid.

The Mohammedan Major and Other Dudes

It appears that Major Nidal Hasan is now charged under the UCMJ and will have his day in court. I was pretty certain that somehow the DOJ would find a way to squirrel this up and move proceedings to a civilian court and I would not be surprised if that eventually becomes the scenario. I would not put anything past this administration. Now Major Hasan, being a member of the military and an American citizen, is entitled to the best defense that can possibly be mustered. That is his right as a citizen of this country. I also do hope that in the event he is found guilty that there is sufficient courage to send him to "meet the virgins." It will be interesting to see how this all eventually plays out. Contrast this case with the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and apparently four other defendants who will be tried in civilian court in NY. Why is this going to occur? These dudes should by now have been gone long enough to turn their virgins into streetwalkers. It can be argued that, unlike the good Major, these men have no rights as citizens of the United States and probably no rights under the Geneva Convention. They were not captured while under the direction of any legitimate leadership; ie a government or military entity, they were non uniformed, and were not fighting in a declared or even technically an undeclared war against any nation state. They should have been therefore considered from the start terrorists and insurrectionists and when captured quickly tried before a military court. Any information that they may have had at the time should have been extracted from them by any means expedient and necessary. At any rate hopefully the outcome will be the same for Khalid, his co defendants, and Major Hasan (if Hasan is indeed found guilty). The virgins are waiting on you fellows. You might want to consider bathing before you leave.
