Not even teaching. An "educator" must go through all kinds of new age rigamarole before they are qualified to teach. No wonder the schools are in such a mess.Bartender Cabbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05623813045706584212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6661288566810922442.post-68457330539192493922014-02-13T23:51:29.502-06:002014-02-13T23:51:29.502-06:00Oh yes, it probably should be pointed out that tho...Oh yes, it probably should be pointed out that those managers all went to college because you need to have a college degree in order to get the good paying jobs. I know the guy who wanted me to make my steel plant look pretty had a college degree.
Jayhawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00756807802218022043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6661288566810922442.post-35164776237476898422014-02-12T19:35:58.491-06:002014-02-12T19:35:58.491-06:00In a lot of industries folks need to come up the h...In a lot of industries folks need to come up the hard way be it from the shop floor or the truck cab. These business school grads are often counterproductive and at worst, destructive.
More than one company has been damaged beyond repair by management that may understand "human resources" or some such but not understand the nuts and bolts of a business.
Bartender Cabbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05623813045706584212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6661288566810922442.post-78607945338010995812014-02-12T09:04:43.614-06:002014-02-12T09:04:43.614-06:00As someone who came up from a steel plant into low...As someone who came up from a steel plant into lowel level management, I can tell you that your management issue is not limited to the trucking industry. I had a general manager tell me once that I should not wear steel toed boots because I should "look a little classier than my men." I told him I would not look very classy with my foot in a cast, and that if earning the respect of my workers depended on what I wore then what I wore wouldn't earn the respect of my wrkers. He didn't know what the second part meant, but I'll bet you do.

His ideas of how materials should be arranged in the plant would have been hilarious if he hedn't had the power to make my life miserable trying to make me implement those ridiculous ideas. He wanted things to look pretty. In a steel plant.
Jayhawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00756807802218022043noreply@blogger.com
